For walking around I have used Rebel SLs, the three kit zooms, a nifty fifty and occasionally a Sigma (non art) 30/1.4. I had looked at the EOS M series, but the lack of an EVF kept me away (real photographers don't shoot smart phone style!) So the M 5 got me and I also got the 11-22, 18-55, 55-200, and 22/2. When Canon finally introduced the 32/1.4 I thought they were finally getting serious about the M system (two prime lenses, twice as many as EF-s primes!) And I hoped there would be a 53/1.4 portrait prime as well as maybe an 85/2.0 or 2.4 short tele, but nothing doing yet. However, the independents are stepping up, and when Sigma remounted their 56/1.4 for M I picked one up. Also, at PhotoPlusExpo Viltrox showed a non-working 23/1.4 AF for M that had a rather ambitious design, and it fit the M form factor, though barely.

Focus Camera in Brooklyn had a joint event with Sony, Sigma, and Profoto. They had a few shooting stations with models. You got a Profoto remote and were allowed five JPEGs at specified apertures and ISO. That didn't quite work for me; I snuck around the edges with the M 5, the 56/1.4, and a Godox speed light in a Flashdisc knockoff, shooting at 1.4. With the M 5 kit zooms I lose a millimeter at the short end fifty millimeters at the long end; I also lose a third of a stop here and there. But the outfit is a lot smaller and lighter than my Rebel SL outfit, and for an old guy that is rather beneficial!

And now: THE IMAGES!

Next time, even after you've posted, but not too much after, you can hit the "edit" at the bottom of the post (next to your name and the time) and delete the extra images with some trouble, but it can be done.

Also, if nothing happens, it's not a good idea to keep pushing the button again and again :)
