carbon_dragon
Just had an unusual event, I think. I have both an M10 and an M9. I haven't taken pictures for months during the hot summer we just had in Georgia (U.S.). So I got my M10 out and it appeared to have a dead battery. I have 2 spares which I believe were charged when I was using it last. They too were flat. Ok, so I set about charging it and the battery charger indicates flashing green (which means charging). So I took my M9 out and it's 3 batteries. All three are either 100% or 95%'ish. This is probably the first longish period I've let the M10 sit without use. Is there something different about the M10 batteries than the M8/9 batteries in this respect? Does their charge dissipate faster when you just leave them in your bag? As of now, I can't rule out the M10 because I don't seem to have a charged battery yet. But later on today I will and I'll see what I see. I suspect the internal battery is also discharged so I may have to set it up again at least. I'm just not sure what to think.
Bill Blackwell Images
Sounds like a question for Leica. Try emailing their service department in New Jersey. I just checked the battery level on my M10-P and it's at 90%; I replaced the battery with my spare (which was charged to full when I got it about a month ago) and it also shows 90%. “When you come to a fork in the road, take it ...” – Yogi Berra
carbon_dragon
Maybe I'll do that. I took my M9 out today. One battery is fully charged and the M10 seems to be normal. Battery 2 is now charging.
carbon_dragon
All batteries charged, we'll see if they stay charged and I did send a note to Leica in New York. On the upside, my M9 with it's replaced sensor works great.
john_shriver
There is some level of self-discharge on Li-Ion batteries, but nowhere near as bad as with NiMh.
tom_halfhill
Did you ever find out if your M10 batteries were OK or defective?
carbon_dragon
No. But since then, after a week or three in the drawer, the charged batteries are still charged.
