Cambo 4X5 identification help - Legend?

Hello all,

I wanted to see if any experts here could help me identify a camera I recently found locally. It looks like a Cambo Legend but doesn't have the "Legend" name anywhere on it and the depth of field calculator seems to have both 4X5 and 8X10 on it which isn't consistent with anything I've been able to find online. I'm likely to pull the trigger on it but wanted some opinions on value since I'm not sure it is a legend. Any info would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you.IMG_0695.thumb.jpg.6f3525db78759756a1d988b897051ec5.jpg IMG_0696.thumb.jpg.0cb488fc2ebe849bd7333feff2919468.jpg IMG_0690.thumb.jpg.dc8244a076bc1f9a2d199a75fc3792b4.jpg lens is included with the setup.

Looks like it might be a "Legend". Here's a link to a Cambo web site with a PDF of the Legend.

Thanks Dennis! I took a look. Everything looks similar in the cambo PDF but on the one I found I don't see "Legend" script anywhere and the depth of field calculator is still different. I'm trying to decide if $200 is worth if for the whole setup.

I’d want to know why some screw has signs of tampering since the finish is worn off.

The screws do look a bit different, especially the one on the back of the rail. I can't imagine why that would be worn that way and I don't necessarily have any way of finding out. Mystery continues...

Update! I'd emailed Cambo to see if they could identify it. Nothing like going to the source. This was the response and it looks like it is a Legend....kind of

From Cambo:

"It is a Cambo legend, but a very early one and it has been played with a bit.

The front standard is mounted 180 degrees wrong on the monorail, the frame should be on the inside and the focus knobs on the right-side (from behind the camera).

That it is a unit from probably the 0-series can be seen as the monorail cap is aluminium, instead of the regular synthetic end stop.

If the scales do not mention “Legend” might also point at a sample from the 0-series.

The fact that the DOF calculator has both 4x5 and 8x10 scales is correct, as the legend was also delivered (once) as 8x10 camera."
