Lens for Maxxum 7xi QD AF 35mm SLR?

This is a 35mm film camera - you don't have to worry about "equivalent" focal lengths. You are looking for a 35mm or 50mm lens.

Minolta used the brand name 'Maxxum' in the Americas, 'Dynax' in Europe and 'Alpha' in Asia for their interchangeable-lens autofocus camera system. Broadly speaking, you can use any Maxxum/Dynax/Alpha lens on this camera. (Someone please correct me if I am wrong.)

Note that Sony bought the assets of Minolta's camera business, and continued to develop digital cameras that continued compatibility with Minolta's lenses, as well as introducing new lenses that continued to be compatible with Minolta's camera bodies. Sony continued to use the 'Alpha' brand name for their interchangeable-lens camera system. But if you investigate this avenue, please note that Minolta cameras are not compatible with Sony's E-mount lenses, nor with Sony's DT (crop-sensor) lenses; they are only compatible with Sony's full-frame A-mount lenses. There may be other caveats, so if you decide on a specific lens, it's probably a good idea to come back here and ask about the specific lens.

Probably the best online resource about Minolta's Maxxum/Dynax/Alpha cameras and lenses is Michael Hohner's website:

Camera tech data for Minolta Dynax 7xi

Minolta/Konica Minolta/Sony Alpha lens data

Minolta AF/Sony Alpha F.A.Q.

And of course you will find Minolta lenses for sale from sites like KEH and eBay.
