joshvance
I have a GH5 with a FD adapter. When using the adapter, my lenses won't change aperture. Any ideas?
petrochemist
Are you using the camera to control the aperture or the ring on the lens? Most adapted lenses can't be controlled by the camera body, EF is about the only exception & even then only on smart adapters.
barryreid
FD adapters generally have an ring with two positions lock and open. You need it to be in the lock position to see the selected aperture. This is due to the nature of the lens coupling. Also, I think the adapter needs to be on the open position when you mount the lens. Edited September 5, 2019 by barryreid

THat's the way it works on my FD adapters for my mirrorless body as well. Your camera body will not control the lens aperture on an adapted lens, you will need to do that manually, once you have the lens properly mounted.
