DavidTriplett
Basic Guidelines: In the strictest sense, nature photography should not include "hand of man elements". Please refrain from images with buildings or human made structures like roads, fences, walls. Pets are not permitted. Captive subjects in zoos, arboretums, or aquariums are permitted, but must be declared, and must focus on the subject, not the captivity. Images with obvious human made elements will likely be deleted from the thread, with an explanation to the photographer. Guidelines are based on PSA rules governing Nature photography which also cover the Nature Forum. Keep your image at/under 1000 pixels on the long axis for in-line viewing. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site at Flicker, Photobucket, your own site, etc. Each member please post no more than just one image to this weekly thread per week. While driving into Yellowstone via the East Entrance last May we passed through a section of burned forest. Some of the trees had had sufficient time to weather a bit post-burn revealing fascinating patterns and textures. Here is just one example of many. (I'm going to take the liberty of assuming the fire was lightning-caused.)

samstevens
Some of the trees had had sufficient time to weather a bit post-burn revealing fascinating patterns and textures. These trees were still housed in the smoke of nearby smoldering fires throughout Mariposa County in Northern California, near Yosemite, revealing the fragility of nature and our environment. 5 "You talkin' to me?" Mary Doo
Recently born elephant calf nursing and being protected by the herd Masai-Mara Love this elephant family. I wish the light comes from the right to lit up their faces and the baby, rather than coming from top and behind. :)
