hapien
I have tried Sandisk Rescuepro and Photorec with formatted memory cards. IIRC success rate were not near 100% with either of programs.
Ed_Ingold
I use "EaseUS" for Windows, and "Disk Warrior" for Mac. They're not free ($80), but fast and effective, even if the disk is won't mount to the system. Furthermore, they restore the original file names and directories, so little cleanup is required. I've been recommended EaseUS, as well as ProSoft Data Rescue. I'll probably end up choosing EaseUS.
Supriyo
I had to use EaseUS once as well, and successfully recovered all my files. Also before EaseUS, I tried several other softwares, free and commercial trial versions, and none of them detected the deleted files. So I would recommend EaseUS. I used the Mac version. Also, I didn’t want to pay the full price for a one time use. I think, I did a survey or something, and was given a coupon code. The final price was $20. Ed_Ingold
EasUS didn't have a MAC version when I needed it. It still ranks high on my list for effectiveness. In addition to file recovery, Disk Warrior can optimize disk directories, speeding up file operations.
William Kahn
I use Acronis True Image to back up my hard drives, including all photo files. I also back up my photo files to an external portable hard drive, and also to a separate PC, using ViceVersa Pro. Who, me? Paranoid? :-)
