Before I cancel my subscription...

...which would be a sorry thing to do after more than 10 years of being a member (OK, not very active for the last couple of years).

 

So what happened ?

I received a mail with notification that my subscription expires. Fine, no problem. I go to My Account - and a surprise: it is set to auto-renew, although I haven't provided the details of my card. Now - how to change the payment method ?

Clicking on My Account results in some options flashing for 0.5 of a second - meaning that I can't change anything. All it does is asking for my credit card.

AND THAT PISSES ME OFF !

 

So - I would greatly appreciate some access to my account where I can actually change or update things.

The ridiculous thing is that EVERY website keeps changing, declaring that this is in order to give the user more control and make things easier - with exactly the opposite effects.

It is a pity that PhotoNet follows the same lemming rush to screw up things which worked well.

 

So - how do I actually change anything in my account ?!

Some time ago,there was actually a spot where you could/I did make this choice in the Account Settings box,but it has vanished along with my choice not to auto-renew.Although I intent to renew even with all the hiccups this site causes,I want to control what gets charged on my credit card....so what are my options;get a move from PN to re-enstate the option or forewarn my credit card account to block any charge from PN?I am sure Sandy will take this up with Admin to get a resolve.

I reported this issue quite a while back and got an acknowledgement - for some reason, nothing has happened to correct the situation. Suggest you contact your credit card company. My perception is that what is involved is inattention rather than anything deliberate. I will still report the situation again. Sorry.

Unfortunately, the latter is probably your best option at this juncture.

I reported this issue quite a while back and got an acknowledgement - for some reason, nothing has happened to correct the situation. Suggest you contact your credit card company. Sandy...Thank you!My subscription does not expire until Aug.6/19,so there is still two months in which,I HOPE,PN can do what it needs to do in order to fix this.Again,I wish to stay as a member but paying on my terms! and will hold off getting the credit card co.involved at this point.

I do not need to contact my credit card company...My credit card has been changed some time ago.

But this is not the point. The real question is: WHY IS THE WEBSITE BEING CHANGED FOR THE WORSE ? WHO IS DRIVING THIS ? WHY THIS IS CONSIDERED NORMAL ? WHY NOTHING IS BEING DONE DESPITE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ? HAS PHOTO.NET BECAME JUST A CASH COW (HARD TO BELIEVE THIS...) ?

Sandy...I have sent an email to Admin to highlight that my deliberate choice was to waive auto-renewal and that I wished for this to be re-instated on my Account page thinking that I might get a response;better part of two weeks now and still no sign of any reply.Any chance you may be able to check on this? Apart from the few times I raised the matter here on Site Help,I have just sent a 3rd email to Admin on this matter but obviously nobody is home to reply within that 48 hours as they state in the Contact venue of the Photo Net main web page.Hope I might get a reply before the target renewal date of Aug.06/2019.

Missed your last, sorry. Necessary contact hasn't been on since 3 July. I have one possible way to get some response which I will try. I don't have a lot of confidence in getting a response, since it is a channel that is not involved in finance, but the only avenue open to me.

This has been on ongoing issue. The site has not, and at this point it appears, will not change. Do what many of us have, especially if you are only here periodically. Don't renew, spend your dollars locally supporting the arts instead. That is what I did after being a long time subscriber.

 

It won't make a difference to the owners of the site,they have made this crystal clear after several years. It will make you feel better about not financially supporting this type of web administrator/ownership behavior, plus your local artists will greatly benefit & appreciate the support a heck of a lot more.

Thanks Sandy...Hope you can wiggle some reaction from Admin before my target date of Aug.06 so I can renew on my terms.

Have contacted the people I know - no response so far. I will add to those conversations, but at this point in time, have no real expectation of success in meeting your necessary time frame. Sorry!

Sandy...Whatever you did worked as my subscription elapsed on the target date and did not auto-renew.As I intented,I renewed for another year and in the process,the option to auto-renew/end subscription appeared and I choose to waive the auto-renew again.Many thanks for looking into this for me.Salutations-Laurent
