IR Phone Photography

I am looking to convert a smart phone to shoot infrared photos. I apologize of I have missed any previous postings on this topic. I was surprised not to find this topic come up when I did a search

Questions/Options

1. Do Samsung Galaxy phones have and IR Blocking Filter?

- I don't own one so I can't check with a remote control LED

- If not, then I should be able to mount an IR long pass filter in front of the lens

2. Iphone X clone

- Requires that I take it apart to remove the IR blocking filter mounted to the lens assy

3. iPhone 6 or above

Is the IR cut off filter deposited on the sensor itself, of on a window in front of the sensor that could be removed by a lab?

4. Other options I have not consider.

I found that my roommates galaxy phone is sensitive the the IR light from a remote control. I will try to put the red long pass filter in front to see if it will work.

I'm pretty sure all will have IR blocking filters but some might be weaker than others. I would expect all of these to be too strong for shooting IR from a drone without modification. I don't use phones for my IR photography, but have quite a bit of experience in using digital cameras for this.

One other option that MIGHT be suitable is 'keyfob' cameras such as the Mini DVR 808 #16 I was considering several years ago. these are very small & can apparently be easily converted to NIR. Image quality will not be excellent, but they are commonly used in remote control models.

Another possibility is to use IR presets by Kevin Kabota, Gavin Siem and others. It's not real IR but also allows you to have base images that you can change for a number of looks.

Or, go with a larger drone and a P&S that has been converted for IR. I have a Panasonic that weighs almost nothing.

BTW: There are PLENTY of very technical people here but no one should be embarrassed to ask what something is if they don't know or they don't understand the conversation.
