For a second year in a row my bank account has be charged

Last year around this time of year, my bank account was charged for for an annual membership without any prior notification. I complained because I no longer use the site. The charges were eventually reversed and supposedly my membership was cancelled. Today my bank account again has been charged $29.95 for a membership that was supposedly cancelled last year and which membership has not been used for over a year.

What can I do to remove my bank information from your records and get this charge reversed again by photo.net for the second year in a row?

I can investigate. We launched the new site in February of 2017, prior to that we did not have auto renewals, so my guess is you subscribed in February of 2017 and were signed up for auto-renewals. Email notifications go out prior to the charge occurring, so if settings were not changed the account would have been charged. We do not store CC information on file at photo.net - we have encrypted tokens from Stripe (who is our CC processor). But again I can investigate, I will send you a DM to get more information.

I am private messaging her now to get more information to get to the bottom of it. Either way, we'll refund her money if her intent was not to have a subscription because she was not using the site. Below is a snapshot of what you should see in "My Account" - cancel subscription button is circled. Edited by G-P

I was told my account would be closed and all my pictures removed last year, so if it had been done I would have no account for you to automatically charge! The last four numbers of my card are 2042, and our bank account was charged today, Feb. 22, 2019.

This is a comedy...

The old site wasn't ideal, but it was usable.

It seems to be a disease spreading w/o control: "updates" and "improvements" of websites, hailed as something that is done for the convenience of the users.

The end result is always the same: bugs, slow-downs, missing data, mistakes etc.

But one thing seems to be common: the attempt to put the hand in the user's pockets.

GET THIS: paying is NOT a problem. But paying for a shitty product - most definitely is.

Membership can be $30, or $60, or more. But the quality has to be there.

I have discovered that the site has withdrawn a subscription despite my terminating it some time ago.

Details: date 16 July 2019 transaction fee £0.65 subscription £23.94 bank is M&S Bank and I have already raised a query with them regarding this. Have also again put a stop on the subscription on my account page.

I have not been into photography for some time due to ill health.

Thanks, Frank

Sandy, were the Photo.net rmail addresses we use to have discontinued when the transition happened? I have another photo account that relied on that address and now I can't get into that account due to not be able to access this email which was fingerlakes@photo.net....or am I missing something/ Thx

Don't know - there have been intermittent server issues, usually working again fairly quickly. Reported this and was acknowledged - expected it to be fixed by now. Sent your account a test - let me know if you get something. Will pursue the problem again tomorrow. Sorry!

Your premium account is set to expire at the date listed above: January 2, 2020. There will be no more charges to your account.

You may press the orange button above at anytime to renew & extend longer your subscription (set to auto-renew, unless you cancel again). This is some of the most poorly written, confusing copy I have ever read on a website. The extent of the damage inflicted on this site by management and technical staff is difficult to imagine. The new site never has worked and unfortunately none of problems with it ever get corrected. Even worse, new problems are regularly introduced. It is astounding to me that the owners haven't figured this out yet. In the old days, we got a regular report on fixes that had been made during the previous month and things that were being worked on currently. Unfortunately, I have 3,000 photos on the site that are difficult for viewers to access and even more difficult to re-arrange. The level of incompetence here is startling.
