rodeo_joe1
I haven't read that much of Adams' but I suspect that he was more knowledgeable, technically, than what comes through in his three best-known books. I have serious doubts about that. Adams insists that Zone V is equivalent to an 18% (Lambertian) reflectance, yet also defines Zone VIII as 'white with texture'. Now if the Zones really are one-stop intervals of exposure, that means the reflectance of Zone VIII is an impossible (or extremely unlikely) 144%. So, no, I don't think Adams' technical knowledge was even as great as he'd like his followers to believe. Nice pictures, shame about the BS!
