You are invited to upload one or more of your landscape photos and, if you’d like, to accompany your image with some commentary: challenges you faced in making the image? your intent for the image? settings? post-processing decisions? why you did what you did? the place and time? or an aspect you’d like feedback on? And please feel free to ask questions of others who have posted images or to join the discussion. If you don’t feel like using words, that’s OK too—unaccompanied images (or unaccompanied words, for that matter) are also very much welcomed. As for the technicalities, the usual forum guidelines apply: files < 1 MB; image size <1000 px maximum dimension.

I came very close to posting another dune photo (as Glenn said last week, the dunes provide “an inexhaustible source of compositions”), but veered slightly inland at the last minute. This is Freshwater Lagoon (just east of Redwood National Park) on a bright spring morning. I’m standing on the edge of the dunes—in Redwood National Park—that separate the lagoon from the sea.

Western shore of Lake Michigan at Point Beach State Forest, Two Rivers, WI. The composition worked for me, as the wave action, shoreline and early morning light at the horizon point all seemed to work together. I added toning to heighten a sense of twilight just before sunrise.

From deep in the Drift Creek Wilderness, Siuslaw National Forest. Unfortunately the day was too rainy and we felt it prudent to turn back. In the end it was a good decision. I think we had about 12 hours of sunlight during the entire week, but that is normal for Oregon coast weather and one makes the best of it.
