ShunCheung
Awesome in flight total wing and body! How and where did you do that? Thanks Bill. I captured that "flat" heron image two days ago on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Sandy Wool Lake in the Ed Levin County Park in Milpitas, in the southern part of the San Francisco Bay. It is a popular park close to a large suburban area. I also captured the opening image (heron swallowing a fish) on this thread there. The herons tend to fly from one side of the lake to the other, and this one was gliding at my camera level. Here is an image of Sandy Wool Lake from about a month ago back in April. You can see a lot of photographers had their tripods set up on lake side on the left.
ShunCheung
More great blue herons flying across Sandy Wool Lake. Usually they fly with their neck curel up, but somehow that particular one's neck was fully stretched. Sandy Wool is actually a human-made lake. There is a dam on one end to retain the water, which is pumped uphill into the lake. There are a few buildings and parking lots on lake shore, thus creating reflections of non-nature objects.
