morizklonner
Hello everybody! I recently received a Canon New F1 for almost free. It is in pretty good condition, however the mirror is really slow (it wasn't from the start, but after some 20 test shots). The preowner told me it was in the attic for 2 decades, unused. I had it looked at by a camera repair shop in Vienna, and they quoted me about 300€ for fixing. They are not specialised in the New F1, and for that price I considered it not worth it (I have another one in working condition and better cosmetic appearance) I wondered if there is still any shop that knows how to fix this model properly in europe? (like a factory trained repair man) Preferably Austria or Germany. I hope anybody can helpe, as sending it to the US to Ken Oikawa is not really an option. Its rather sad that these gems are nothing more than aesthetic bricks when broken because nobody can fix them economically... :( Than you all and best wishes from Vienna, Austria! Vincent Peri
Have you checked the mirror foam, which absorbs the shock of the mirror flipping up? Old mirror foam often turns into a gooey mess, and the mirror can stick to it when it flips up.
jim_bielecki1
From another thread on this topic, a few months back: Herbert Geissler GmbH Lichtensteinstraße 75 72770 Reutlingen Telefon 07072 9297-0 Fax 07072 2069 Reparatur Canon - Geissler Service - Startseite - Geissler Service
morizklonner
The mirror foam is not the culprit, I guess the camera repair service would not quote 300€ for decayed mirror foam ;) And unfortunately Geissler does not service the new F1 anymore, I already sent them an email, thats why I am asking here :(
