Recommendations for second hand DSLR studio still life camera?

Used 5D might not be so far from the price range. Used EF lenses are also reasonably priced.

I bought my father (a Canon user since 1959) a 5D a few years ago for USD 400.

I suspect they are somewhat less by now.

In any case, there are a lot of good deals on used DSLRs and lenses to go with them.

I recommend the Nikon D300 also.

It is a 12 MP D-SLR, and is very solidly built.

I bought a new one back in 07, along with some lenses and an SB-800 flash.

Although it cost a chunck of money at that time, I have never regretted my purchase decision.

I have taken several thousand exposures with this camera, and it has never had a single problem.

The price for one should be quite a bit less now, and may be in the affordable range for your budget.

Just a couple of addenda.

For two hundred £ there are lots of reasonably new digital cameras and decent lenses.

Almost anything over 12MP will work fine. That leaves a lot of cameras to choose from.

There is no question that the "kit" lenses are not so good as the highest priced deluxe lenses. On the other hand, spending twice as much as a kit lens price will NOT usually get you a lens that is 2X "better". The kit lenses are kind of loss leaders that the OEMs use to lure you into their fold. They are cheap because they are often older designs and made with cheaper (not necessarily the same as poorer) materials [OMG! PLASTIC!!!!].

For both Nikon and Canon their 'standard' 50mm f/1.8 sort of lenses are major bargains and have excellent image quality (tho' sometimes something called "bokeh" is not so pleasing - don't worry about it). Their short-range kit zooms are better than people say they are, too. Perfectly fine to start out with until gear-acquistition-syndrome kicks in;)

You can choose between Canon EOS M6 this model is a Semi-Pro Mirrorless camera with a resolution of 24.0 MP and a APS-C (22.3 x 14.9 mm) sized CMOS sensor. Its quite good for studio fotos, and the budget of the used will be approximately $430. And between

EOS 6D which is a Semi-Pro DSLR camera with a resolution of 20.0 MP and a Full frame (36 x 24 mm) sized CMOS sensor. Here the budget will be $750. I think they are both good in the quality of the shots .
