Leslie Reid
You are invited to upload one or more of your landscape photos and, if you’d like, to accompany your image with some commentary: challenges you faced in making the image? your intent for the image? settings? post-processing decisions? why you did what you did? the place and time? or an aspect you’d like feedback on? And please feel free to ask questions of others who have posted images or to join the discussion. If you don’t feel like using words, that’s OK too—unaccompanied images (or unaccompanied words, for that matter) are also very much welcomed. As for the technicalities, the usual forum guidelines apply: files < 1 MB; image size <1000 px maximum dimension. I went hiking last week with a non-camera’ed friend. As expected, I took about one tenth the number of photos I ordinarily would, but I was interested to find that a higher proportion than usual survived the initial triage. I think I was taking fewer chances than I usually do, and I wasn’t working out multiple options on each subject. The end result was that even though I had a higher proportion of acceptable images, I had a lower proportion of images that I particularly liked. This one I liked for the colors, lines, and ambiguity.
Greg M
Nice back-light. I like shooting sunrise images along the lake through the leaf-less trees, exposing all the intricate branches like this series from last Friday morning.

DavidTriplett
Gower Gulch from Zabriskie Point, Death Valley National Park, California: I was with others and felt hurried, so, instead of carefully evaluating and composing, I shotgunned off a bunch of exposures, hoping to find something useful in the collection. This was built from two composited images, though it could have been captured in a single frame if I had taken the time to see it. It seems I too-often feel constrained by my companions to fully engage with photographic opportunities. Rare is the day when I'm alone or otherwise free to make photography my single-minded purpose, even though my wife is extraordinarily patient and supportive.
DavidTriplett
Just for giggles, here's the original, color version of the above. I still haven't decided which I like better, though I'm currently on an AA kick and am leaning towards the B&W version.
