Just when you thought...

I worked for a camera chain in the Minneapolis, USA area for ten years. They tried to open two stores in the eastern part of Wisconsin and NOT stock any Kodak products. I thought that it was the stupidest idea the owner ever came up with, and I was quickly proved right.

For those of you in Europe, the film they tried to push was Revue.

The developing agents we all use and love are special organic chemicals that have the ability to identify which salts of sliver have been exposed and which such crystals have not received the necessary measure of photon hits. Those that are identified as exposed are thus reduced to metallic silver which encompasses the image.

Most every developer you have ever stumbled upon is related chemically to benzene. Benzene has proven to be one of the most important chemical ever isolated. Credit to Michael Faraday 1825 who derived it from natural gas and distilling it from benzic acid (gum benzoin). For years it was distilled from coal tar. Today its made artificially in the lab.

Anyway, Hydroquione or othewise called benzene – 1.4 – diol or quinol is one of the most common developers a derivative of benzene.

OK if you drink this stuff but I elect to just watch you and yours.
