jon_shumpert2
Hi everyone. I recently bought a used Digibee 800 from a local photographer. I mainly use a softbox on it, but wanted to use and umbrella for some photos. Unlike the original Alien Bees, the Digibee doesn't come with a reflector. I am seeking advice from those who might be using this stobe to see if it is recommended to buy a reflector to use with it? Thanks for any help. AJG
The standard 7" reflector has a hole for umbrellas and the company also sells something flatter for a wider angle of light on the umbrella. I always use the 7" with my umbrellas to prevent light spilling around the studio and potentially causing lens flare. The 7" also accepts barndoors and honeycomb grids if you want a harder light source instead of a soft one from a soft box or umbrella.

chris_autio
Like AJB says, the white lightnings accept barndoors which you can control light to some degree and within which you can place various filters, but the 7 “ grids are really ideal for controlling light (4different grids...get em all). The only disadvantage with these is that they begin to smoke and create a horrible odor if you use them with a bug job.
