conmai
Hi all, This may be a simple question, I've recently acquired the above and a motor drive 1, sadly I don't have the charger, my understanding is that the unit still works but the battery is flat. Other than purchasing the right Olympus charger are there any other options, these days? The other thought was is there a reasonably simple conversion that's well known that will mean I can use this kit longer term and beyond the life of the original battery pack currently fitted? Safe non-explosive options/recommendations only would be preferred Kind regards
Greg M
Tip: Refreshing cells in an OM 15V Control Pack 2 (and also 1 maybe) As far as a charger goes.... OLYMPUS OM M 15V Ni-Cd CHARGER 1 FOR CONTROL PACK 1/2 | eBay
BeBu Lamar
You may have to recell the battery pack. If you can take the battery pack apart then it's not difficult to recell it. I am sure you can find better and same size cells for it.
john_hermanson2
At this point, due to age, the nicad cells in that pack are probably dead and/or leaking. When I service a pack, I replace the nicads with NiMH. You will need the Olympus charger if you want to do things correctly imo.
conmai
HI All, Many thanks for the responses, appreciated, I have now managed to obtain an official charger, the Motordrive 1 works perfectly and the battery still holds charge well, I have noticed that with a 3 hour charge and if not used it depleted to the point of needing a charge again after 8 days...not too bad, I think though a full charge is ~4-5 hours so will perform a small test using these metrics.
