joe_hendershot
I have a vintage Contax and wondering of its value, and, if I choose to sell it, what is the best method? See photos. Not sure what the model number is, does anyone know? Thanks much!

stuart_pratt
Does it work, that is the question. Worth much more in a working condition.
Greg M
Does it work, that is the question. Worth much more in a working condition. .....and highly doubtful I'm guessing. If someone has a working Contax I, they know it, have a good knowledge of it and would say so in a post like this. Joe didn't even know the model designation. Greg M
....or probably the fact the camera has the 85mm finder mask fitted....
Rick_van_Nooij
It appears to be a Contax I version 7 (according Kuc's classification system). This is the said to be the most reliable one of the bunch. I picked one up last December and am currently running film through it. The shutter curtain ribbons are its weakness, just like on the Contax II. Problem is fixing them is harder than with the Contax II.
Rick_van_Nooij
The lens is also not a period match for this camera. It is younger chrome-finish Tessar for the Contax II, instead of the nickel & black paint one. The 85mm mask is part of the camera that slides in and out if needed. I vaguely recall that these could be swapped out for different focal lengths like the 135mm.
