eric friedemann
Hasselblad in colors? http://www.hasselblad.se/products/cameras/503_colour.html
art_haykin
They'll sell 'em, just wait. YEARS ago, Alpa came out with some designer colors, including plaid. It bombed, but then Alpa was a low volume seller anyhow. I'm waiting for mauve.
eric friedemann
Was that before or after Alpa went out of business before its relatively recent reincarnation?
gene_crumpler8
Love the yellow!! Hope I can get my 500 cm recovered!
markus_arike
Whenever I see a new product that's available in colors, i.e. "Ruby Red" instead of red, I can't help thinking that if one had the ability to patent a concept, the designer at Apple responsible for making the Imac available in five colors would be rolling in dough. A green Hasselblad? Why not, I have a blue computer.
roger_michel
now you know how leica users feel every time they put out another royal wedding, royal bed wetting, or royal head netting special edition. thank god porter cable hasn't gone to design colors. then i know i'd know to cock my ear for nero's fiddle (it was nero?). lemastre
I recall several years ago seeing a white Hasselblad for use at weddings.
eric friedemann
The space cameras were white and black: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/hasselblad/cameras/hasselmodels/models/space.htm
jkantor
"Love the yellow!! Hope I can get my 500 cm recovered!" I like the yellow one too, but why wait? Just go to WalMart and get some contact paper. You'll have a lot more options, including woodgrain.
eric friedemann
If it is any consolation, the vast majority of these cameras will wind up permanently stored in the safe deposit boxes of collectors who wouldn't know how to load, let alone shoot a Hasselblad. roger_michel
gene's rite!! there was a yellow moon blad. but it was an atrappe made of jarlsburg. it's on the first floor in the air&space museum next to the battery-operated self-billowing flag (too bad they can't get the mercury batteries required to run the thing anymore -- the conspiracy theorists could spend a long weekend in the catskills). eric friedemann
If you've seen it, you've seen it. But N.A.S.M. shows a black blad on its website: http://www.nasm.edu/galleries/attm/atmimages/99-15147-2.f.jpg
art_haykin
Eric, that was WAY back in Alpa history.
roger_michel
maybe the jarlsburg has gotten moldy and turned black. it is hard cheese, but very oily.
stnoonan
At least the colors will deter thieves from grabbing your gear! <p>Sean <br><a href="http://stnphotography.com">www.stnphotography.com</a>
art_haykin
Don't count on the colors as a deterent against theft!
robert_c_harvey
Art is right! Don't count on colorfull Hassys from preventing theft! It will probably make the cameras even more visible, the last thing I want! The attention you get right now is too much!People flock to you when you start shooting; some know about the cameras and want alook, others that don't know about the cameras are really curious! "What is that thing? Do they still make it?" I prefer stealth, especially when travelling ! I'm stickin' with black and chrome! Robert

nicholas_wybolt
Obviously, this is all part of Hasselblad's digital strategy. Start making cameras won't clash with iMac's and Powerbook's. Providers of digital backs are sure to follow. -Nick
msitaraman
1. If I had taxpayer dollars like NASA, I too would buy a second body, one white and one yellow. 2. If you are going all the way to the moon to take pictures, presumably you will carry a second backup body-why not throw the yellow one in the duffel bag, to add a little fashion color to the white and black body? 3. I agree, it really is wrong, Eric. They are far too expensive. Its also wrong that society will make me feel all self conscious for using them in public. Downright unjust in fact. :-)
roger_michel
paging mr. salomon!!! did linhof ever actually sell any of their technicolor technikardan 6x17s, or was that just for the merriment of those attending photoplus? and if they did, will they match the new blad liveries? i'm thinking matched set -- heck i could even slap some auto lacquer on the ries and reupholster the 3000 mk.ii. todd frederick
You can buy spray paint that has marble or stone texture. Your Hassie will be one-of-a-kind!
psychophoto
My God what did the iMac start?!?! First it was computers, then phones, George Foreman Grills, and virtually everything under the sun. And now Hasselblads? You know pop culture has gone too far when it starts showing up like this. Then again, I did custom paint certain parts of my Nikon F3 metallic blue....
robert_kennedy
So how much MORE will this cost? Sounds like somebody in Marketing got an idea...
