shlind
I am currently trying to repair an old Agfa standard 256 folding camera, initially with the focus stuck. I have read some of the threads here on the forum and have successfully been able to clean the camera and to get the focus working. However when doing this I had to submerge the whole focus and shutter assembly in isopropanol which resolved the hardened green greese that got the focus stuck. The focus now works fine but after the shutter housing has been submerged in isopropanol the shutter mechanism does no longer work properly it get stuck in some positions. I haved tryed to clean it several times more in case any of the green greese did come into the shutter housing, but without success. I am now trying to open/dissasemble the shutter housing to see and access the mechanichs and maybe to lubricate some of the parts individually. But I can't find out how to open the shutter assembly! I can't see any screws or other mechanism to open it. There are four screws on the back which I have removed, but they dont open the housing. Does anyone have instructions on how to open this shutter housing or have any pictures on how to do it so I can access the mechanics? shlind
I just found out. It was just pressed on from the back.
JDMvW
Even if you don't personally intend to do a lot of repairs, it is a lot of fun to see the stripped and buck-nekkid thingies and parts. Thanks. :)
greg_nixon2
You have a Gauthier dial set shutter. Hans has some disassembly and cleaning instructions on his Flickr album here Gauthier Vario Dial Set Shutter You may have to ask his permission to view the album. I would recommend a complete dismantle and clean. The camera looks like it takes 116 spools. 70mm film can be used to reload the spools.
