murrayatuptowngallery
Sorry, can't find a better category. I periodically check junk stores for cameras. I got a Kodak Pony IV a couple weeks ago. I just saw a Fuji Discovery 1000 Panorama, find of doubt it's older that 1970, but cannot find any info on it... Anyone know howwide a pano it can do, if it's dedicated or selectable? I peeked inside (auto-load 35mm, can't open the back fully, but I could see the film gate & it didn't look terribly wide. Thanks Murray
pshinkaw
I have an old magazine ad around here somewhere. It was in the market in the early to mid 1980's. -Paul
orville_wright
1. This camera is from the mid 1980's. I bought one because Consumer Reports picked it as a best buy one year. 2. The panorama was accomplished via an insert. If you did not get the insert then you can not do panoramas.
patrick j dempsey
I think this is one of those "crop-frame" panoramics. It cuts the top and bottom off of the regular 35mm frame and calls it pano. Not really pano, just pano format.
murrayatuptowngallery
Thanks. Fuji sent me a manual...said it wasn't in a form emailable (that may be why I didn't find it online). No insert at the thrift store. Hey, I could just compose for the middle half and scan my own negs. What a spoilsport, huh :O)? For $5, I dunno, do I really need it? The batteries would cost more than that. Maybe I'll pick it up so I can use it where I would worry about something more precious being injured or lost. Or for the trips my kid goes on & uses a disposable instead of her digital. Thanks all.
Aoresteen
I know I'm raising an old thread but need to correct some info. The Fuji Discovery 1000 Zoom was a 1992 camera sold in America. The earlier Fuji compacts in the 80's were not zooms. It has a 35-80mm zoom. The aperture is not marked on the camera. The camera came with a mask insert that fits in to the normal 24x36mm film gate and crops the exposed film to 13mm x 36mm for the panao effect. To fully open the back press gently on orange clip that holds the back where the film cassette goes. The back will then swing fully open. There were two versions of the Discovery 1000. One has a date back the other one does not. The Fuji DL-1000 is the same camera without the pano adapter. DL stands for "Drop Load". If you have a Discovery 1000 pano adapter it should fit the DL-1000. The DL-1000 was sold in Europe with and without the date back but not with the pano adapter. There was also a Fuji Discovery 975 Panoramic camera as well that was sold in America. It is the same as the 1000 - I do not know why Fuji sold it with two different names. The 975 cameras that I've seen did not have the date back but that doesn't mean Fuji never made one. It uses two 123 sized 3V batteries.
