kmac
Very nice angle. It was the only real angle to shoot from. There was a fence between me and the plane some fifty feet behind the plane. I expanded the shot till I liked the framing then cropped it. It brought the plane up closer so only the plane is the main interest and to omit the distracting stuff elsewhere in the field. Zooming wasn't an option with the compact Canon because of softening, a loss of sharpness and definition

Moving On
My all-time favorite WWII plane was the P38 Lightning: Fighter of the Week: the Lockheed P-38 Lightning - Flight Journal Major Bong comes to mind. P-38 in the Pacific and P-51 over Europe. The two best, no doubt. If you know the P-38, I’m sure you know this guy.... Richard Bong - Wikipedia The “Forked-tailed devil” if I recall, would fly above the Zero and dive down through the Japanese squadrons, guns turned on with murderous effect. Moving On
From my Library......Those 4- 50s and single 20mm all centered on the front were a deadly accurate configuration. Fascinated with it since I was a kid, it was one of those plastic models I spent grass cutting money on. Now back to your regularly scheduled program. Appreciate the indulgence.

James G. Dainis
Note from Moderator: I will be out of the country without internet access for the next few weeks. If a new "365 day thread for 2019" is posted, it may be a week before it is made sticky to stay at the top of the thread list. That should be no problem. James G. kmac
The picture reminds me of a guard wasp waiting to ambush an intruder..... It was great seeing the Avenger fly, very noisy though, the Japanese must have heard them coming before they ever spotted them approaching They could have done with a fighter escort at Midway, wonder why they didn't ? If the new thread is as active as this one and the previous ones I think we can get by until a new sticky is in place. Safe travels.
