milan_moudgill
Looking to replace a broken original. I am sure there is no way I will ever get my hands on an original lens cap – can anyone suggest what might work as a third-party replacement? The lens has a 49mm filter size. Thanks in advance! Jochen_S
Open ebay or Amazon type in "49mm lens cap" and get a nice one from China. - I'd pick a "49mm Center Pinch Snap on Front Lens Cap Cover" for 1€ including shipping on ebay (since I don't want to get an Amazon prime account). I can't get rid of the feeling that center pinch are easier to operate than the conventional snap on ones, where the snapping parts aren't always boldly enough visible for my personal taste. I ordered Chinese lens caps before and am quite content and happy with them. In the past, with brick and mortar stores I got spare caps from the bargain bins. My recommendation is to stock spare caps of all sizes in use. You'll never know when you'll need one and shipping from China takes a while. If you are looking for known brands' caps I warmly recommend Nikon. Their quality is light years above Cosina made Zeiss. But everything else should really do the job. Pentax made decent 49mm caps in the early 80s. Minolta in the late 80s / 90s sucked and broke earlier
