Jack McRitchie
This morning after reading a thoughtful comment on one of my pictures by Tatiana Ivanova, I made a lengthy reply which took me nearly half an hour to compose. I wanted to answer her question as completely as possible and so took great care in my reply For me this was always the heart and soul of PN, the ability to have a real dialogue with talented photographers. I proof read my reply carefully and when I was satisfied, I posted it. Or at least that's what I tried to do. It never appeared, just disappeared into the ether. This isn't the first time this has happened to me; it's just such "minor" incidents that thoroughly irritate me about this site. It seems that most of us simply shrug our shoulders and say that's just the way things are. What is it, two or three years since the changeover (I can't even remember) and we're still willing to accept the bugs and clunky site navigation rather than demand something at least as good as what we lost with the launching of V2. If there is a word limit to comments on pictures, then say so. If not, then fix it, please.
JDMvW
Well, in my case, I'm pretty sure that I only lost files when I got to the very end and then neglected to hit the "post reply" button. Since the display on screen looks final, it's easy to forget. The system is not as forgiving as it should be( "Are you sure you want not to post" would be nice). Vincent Peri
I usually copy my post so that if there is a glitch posting, I can try posting it again.
frigo
If there is a word limit to comments on pictures, Jack...this has happened to me a number of times and I always attributed this to a ''time elapsed limit'',not because the text was long but I wanted to screen out the French accent.I never made a fuss about it because there are still some features of user friendly PN-1 which ceased to work since the changeover and are far more irritant to me.I will not repeat here as I have voiced this to Admin both here on the Site Help Forum and by PM....to no avail. Sandy Vongries
As usual when on - I forwarded his message to Admin, and PM'ed Jack. I no longer write long messages - suggest doing them in other software, saving and pasting in.
John Peri
For information: I posted two comments today under Zbigniew Tyburczy's work that did not register. Thank you. Edited December 12, 2018 by John Peri
The Shadow
While all good advice, I hope we’re not putting too much burden or responsibility on a long-term user who’s been dealing with poorly-functioning software for two years now and who’s also a smart guy very familiar with writing and properly submitting critiques. Given experience and history, I trust Jack got it right and the Photo.net software got it wrong. There’s always something new under the sun. There was not a character limit or a time limit in the requirements so I do not believe that is what the issue is. I will add this to the list and see if we can recreate the issue so they can track it down.
