michaellinder
Michael, Yours is the only version that makes me feel trapped under an ever-lowering and threatening (yellow!) sky. It's a cool virtual reality effect. Good job! Tom, considering the quality of the images you've contributed to the PPC threads, I am really grateful for the compliment. Gerald Cafferty
Another great image Gerald Thanks for this and for the many others you've posted to reinvigorate the weekly PP challenge. I enjoy it. There's no real reason (apart from complacency/laziness) why other people - including myself - haven't taken take more initiative in posting images. I really appreciate all you've done and I can well imagine that keeping the thread going week after week becomes a burden after a while. It's high time others (including myself) step up and take more responsibility/initiative. Good on you for making us aware of this! A week is a nice period of time for a PP challenge. It's enough time to consider a photo, the PP options and to experiment. I do wonder whether we need to restrict ourselves to just one photo. An alternative approach might be for people to upload photos that they consider 'challenging' in PP for a certain week. Anyone who wants to take up the challenge on one more photos could post their versions. Anyway, for this photo. I wanted to bring the boat closer to the viewer (crop). I added a bit of color to the sky and pebbles too. I also added a (drawn in ) 'distant coastline' because the sea/horizon were pretty boring (not the fault of the photographer! The scene was as it was. Hi Mike, the photo was taken in Suffolk so that must be your own Dutch coastline you've added...........:).GC.
michaellinder
other people - including myself - haven't taken take more initiative in posting images Mike, there never has been a high level participation in PPC. There's no reason to castigate yourself!

mikemorrell
I like PPC because - as @Gerald Cafferty has pointed out since I've been here - it's 'a bit of fun'. The different versions on the weekly PPC are not all to my personal taste but I enjoy seeing what what different members come up with. I haven't dug into the DD archives but from what I see ,there doesn't seem to be much interest in PP (=the DD). That - combined with the above average level of interest in film cameras and scanning old negatives - gives me a sense of the PN membership profile versus that of say, 500px or Flickr. :) ;Mike, there never has been a high level participation in PPC. There's no reason to castigate yourself!
Gerald Cafferty
Open in LR 5.7, straighten horizon and crop. Open in NIK silver Efex, using control points apply selective colourisation. Back into LR, adjusted white and black points, reduced noise that previous adjustments had added, finally slight sharpening.
jpalmer57
First, another thank you to Gerald for starting these PPCs, it's great to see what others come up with. I also saw this in B&W, cropped in LR then sent to AFXPro2, converted to B&W, applied Wet Plate, some surface marks, etc.
jordan2240
Ok, Thanx Michael and Gerald! I'll try to post an image next Friday. I love doing the post-processing challenge. However, my photography skill will never meet the standard set by Gerald. Lots of what I do is fix my in-camera mistakes. I have to admit I am a bit intimidated; but, I'll try. Punta, I was the originator of the challenge several years ago. I still lurk out here even though I don't participate. When I originated the challenge, I did so because I wanted serious input on how others would process some of the images I had taken, and thought others might want the same for some of their images. I eventually lost interest for a variety of reasons, one being the lack of participation, but was glad to see others still having fun with it when Gerald brought it back from the dead (even though I'd never meant for it to be quite as experimental as it had become). Anyway, the point I'm getting to is that, if you have images that you 'fix' in post, those are exactly the types of images the initial challenge were meant to include, so you shouldn't have any reticence about posting them. You might actually get some interesting ideas on how someone else would process them.
