Dave410
a Canon camera I purchased in Japan? I live in the US, but I'm in Japan right now and looking at a used 5D Mark IV at Bic Camera in Nagoya. My Nikon buddy says Nikon won't repair any Nikons he buys here, but my quick search of the Internet indicates Canon USA might. Does anyone know for sure how that works? Many thanks. Cheers, Dave
JDMvW
Since it is used, it may be out of warranty anyhow, and I would ask Canon about out-of-warranty repairs on a camera you personally purchased in Japan (e..g., LINK). Usually the OEM won't service "gray market" cameras, but this may not be exactly what they consider 'gray' There are other companies that are "authorized" centers (e..g., LINK) and I would imagine that's where you could go. Dave410
Thanks. I don't think Canon is as strict about it as Nikon and I could always just bring it back to Japan. That's what my buddy does with his Nikons.
paddler4
I don't know. You could just e-mail them and ask. However, their service form doesn't ask for any of this information: just the model and serial number. Usually, the issues pertain to warranty repairs. JeffOwen
Why should they not? They may not support any warranty but if the camera is in need of repair and they can get paid for it, then I see no reason for them not to accept the business. JDMvW
Why should they not? Of course, that's true logically, but we're talking corporate policy here. o_O
