alex_jaimes1
Hi! I just got one, I set picture profile to PP10, and I noticed that when I first switch the camera on and look through the viewfinder (OR the display), the image appears quite vivid, for about half a second, and then it looks washed out. I did a factory reset and indeed, noticed that this happens when picture profiles are on (it's less noticeable with some profiles). It's kind of annoying, but is it normal or is it a defect on my particular camera and I need to return it? Even with profiles off, it seems to "flicker" very quickly when first switched on.. thanks! alex
Ed_Ingold
There is a menu item in Camera 2, page 7 labeled "Live View Display." The default is OFF. Turn it ON if you wish to view picture effects in real time. The A7Riii powers up much faster than previous models, but it's not instantaneous. Another menu setting affects the refresh rate of the EVF. When NORMAL, the rate is 60 fps, and 120 fps when HIGH. Make a habit of turning the power on, or if in auto-off mode, lightly pressing the shutter release as you bring the camera to your eye. It will be warmed up and ready by the time you look through the finder. Some options may be active when shooting with a JPEG option. alex_jaimes1
Thanks- you are right- if I switch it on and immediately touch the shutter, I don't see the vivid- it jumps straight to the "washed out" (which corresponds to PP10). So it seems like your camera behaves the same way and this is normal?
alex_jaimes1
So I'll answer my own question. I went to B&H and tried a couple of cameras and they behaved the same way. So it's normal..
