Andy Murphy
Today, while shooting an event, the 14 f2.8 triggered a macro symbol with message to turn off camera. It was on an X-Pro1 but I get same result with it on an X-Pro2 as well And my other Fuji lenses work correctly with both the X-Pro1 and 2. Could it be the part of the lens which moves forward to do AF? Thanks for insights and should I contact Fuji about possible repair?
luis triguez
did you update the firmware?
Uhooru
Yes, check your firmware for the lens. Also the camera.
Andy Murphy
Hi, Yes both cameras and the 14 are up to date on firmware levels. Talked with Fuji techs yesterday and was told that problem like mine could be lens assembly but they advised me to send it to Fuji at Edison NJ to learn what can be done. This morning I sent it via UPS.

fwstutterheim
Was there any filter, hood or something else possibly interfering with focus movement?
Andy Murphy
Was there any filter, hood or something else possibly interfering with focus movement? No: First noticed problem because Macro symbol was on in viewfinder. But, once I got it turned off, the Turn camera off and back on continued. Lens and both cameras I tried it on all have current firmware releases. Now waiting to see what Fuji repair reports.
luis triguez
I always have my Pro-1 and E-1 in Macro position, even when I shoot farthermost and I've never had any problems in either of them. So, you will have to find other reasons for such failures.
Andy Murphy
Just learned that 14 f2.8 needs a new auto focus motor.
Sanford
The XE1 leaves that distracting viewfinder icon in macro mode.
Andy Murphy
Received 14 f2.8 lens from Fuji Repair from Edison NJ. Excellent packing, bubble plastic wrapping with box chock full of plastic peanuts. Lens firmware up to date. New serial number which means either new lens or renovated lens. This lens shows no sign of any usage and appears to be new. By the way, when you send in a lens for repair you are advised in print a renovated lens may be returned to speed up delivery. After taking test pictures with the 14, it works flawlessly and I am pleased to have it.
c_watson1
Fujifilm.ca has always been great about repairs and generous with small fixes. Compared to Nikon.ca’s clinical, stone-cold service, Fuji.ca’s is personal and friendly. They’re also genuinely interested in how their products perform and how you use them. Glad they came through for you.
