Unable to login/laptop

Right, I understand now. Usually a site has a "forgot your password" link in the login, or in the page that appears when you type it in wrong. At that point, it depends on the site. Some ask for information you may have entered when you signed up, some want to text the phone you put in, some what to use the email you entered to send you an email you can use to reset your password. I haven't lost my password for THIS site yet, but it's probably only a matter of time. Resetting your password might be the answer if that's possible. If not, then you will need an administrator. But try logging in to the laptop, typing anything for the password, and see if there is a "forgot your password" link shown when you get it wrong, and if so, click it. Of course when you change it you'll have to change it on all your computers.

You may not be aware that Glenn has, with no announcement other than what some moderators found out after the fact, left PN. No one seems sure if there is any longer an administration to speak of, or at least one communicating with members and checking into this HELP forum. Best of luck in finding a solution.

Thank you. I finally managed to login by seizing on the option to name my first pet. Phew, that's a relief. I will reiterate however that I did not receive the automatic backup-mail allowing for a change of password as suggested in the caption. That must be put right for future cases

As for Glenn, he worked hard to make the site a success but, unfortunately, he did not appear to have the necessary resources to see it through. That said, PN2 today is a substantial improvement on what it was when it first started out, and we owe that largely to him, his diligence and his patience. I'm sure t speak for all of us in wishing him much happiness and success in the future.

Hi John, I am happy to report that you do not speak for me. Glenn was in, way over his head from day one and his cocksure attitude prevented him from ever getting up to speed. The place seems to be functioning on auto pilot about the same as it did with Glenn at the helm. One thing I will give him is that he would sooner or later drop by and respond to some of the inquiries in this forum. His responses were mostly empty placating with no real solutions but that was better than what transpires these days.

This site in its current state is nothing more than the bait on a hook meant to snag the foolhardy into paying for creative live courses. Nobody is going to fix problems or respond to the few people left posting on the site. The people holding the purse strings will leave the bait on the hook so long as the Google hits continue to make this place good bait or until a shiny new lure comes along.

Glad you got your pasword sorted out on your own. Cheers.

Gordon:

Extremely well said, it reflects my experience and decision to leave. Since leaving I’ve been checking in every week or so, can’t imagine why, perhaps hoping for the miracle that is obviously not going to happen.

It’s recently dawned on me that just coming by as a guest and “clicking” on a few photos may be perpetuating and benefiting the hapless owners of the site. I have vowed to discontinue these visits. A sad decision, I truly miss all my old, missing, friends here.

What is the alternative site? Are there better photography forums we should be using?

It depends what you’re looking for. I don’t think there’s a one-stop shop.

Whether or not there’s something better doesn’t affect my disappointment in what was done to this site. PN can be in bad shape despite the fact there may be no good all-around alternative.

Gordon expresses my sentiments well.

There’s always something new under the sun.

Some see a cup half full, others half empty .. that's life. Let's try and make the best of what remains.

In the meantime, I am a little frustrated. My Premium (life) Membership appears to have disappeared and I'm getting boxes asking me to sign up ..
