What camera(s) are you using this weekend?

I keep wanting to give my Tamron SP 17mm f/3.5 a thorough test run, but never get around to it. What do others users think of it?

Last used this lens in the late 90's for landscape work on a Nikon N8008s. I thought it was plenty sharp with high contrast and accurate color. Actually I'm sorry I sold it... been looking for a clean replacement to try out on FF digital.

One of my old favourites, the illustrious Nikon FE. It's fitted with a rather derelict Nikkor AF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6D lens which is no longer AF, a sort of accidental acquisition which has surprised me with the quality of it's images. I've actually ordered a working version for the Nikon AF cameras...

I’ve kinda settled on these to in the small bag for a while.

Took a chance and put some Velvia in the S3 but I am nervous about exposure using the Luna Pro.

The little ME Super works great with the E6 for me but up until now everything in the Nikon has been Black and White.

Both cameras fit well in the new small bag so it makes for a good to go compact package.

The Pentax, with that 40mm is smaller than the S3.pair.thumb.jpg.dff1d6c5cc8ad9792189171b554e002f.jpg

Gotta love that little Pentax 40mm f 2.8. I use mine with my Pentax MX.

Am continuing with Medium Format for a while. I (idiot) snapped the rivets on my Agfa Isolette III and learned from Jurgen that it is unrepairable. Pity, as it had the Solinar Lens set in the Synchro-Prontor. My lowley Isolette II only had the Apotar set in the Prontor-S, so, with some fiddling, I changed them over. Now ready to try out the II with newly fitted Solinar/Syncro-Prontor, loaded with Pancro 400. We will see!

14 day cruise next week and am debating between recently serviced Nikon S2 + 35, 50 & 135 lenses, or recently proven (but not serviced to my knowledge) Leica M6 + 35, 50 & 90 lenses..My heart goes to the Nikon, but my brain goes to the Leica. (I collect the damned things).

Sometimes I hate having too many options.

I'll probably finish up just tossing a coin - taking both is not an option.:(

I have barely touched the Argus K over the last week, so I'll probably finish up the roll this weekend at a World War 1 living history event at Maaseik.

No room to bring the large format Kodaks though, so I'll probably bring a period Kodak box or folding pocket camera to the event too.

German soldiers caught in Belgium after the Armistice wished to retreat across Dutch Limburg to Germany. This led to a skirmish being fought in the town of Maaseik.

Eventually the Germans were allowed to retreat across the Dutch border on the condition that they would surrender their weapons.

This collection arrived about an hour ago, and it's all just as it came out of the box. The old Minolta SRT101 is a longtime favourite, and the 58mm Rokkor-PF f/1.4 is one of my favourite lenses. The camera came with the 35mm MC Rokkor-HG f/2.8 amd 135mm Tele Rokkor-QD f/3.5 lenses, both in nice condition, along with a collection of cases, lens hoods and filters.

As I already have examples of these items I'll clean them up and move them on, but the asking price was too tempting to ignore. Tonight I shall replace the mirror bumper foam and blow all the debris off the mirror and focusing screen, clean and polish the camera and hopefully run a test film tomorrow.

Nice outfit, Rick. Especially amazing that the leather ever ready case looks so good. Over time many of these old cases don't age well. My SRT case (bought new in 1978) and XD case (new in 1980) both have multiple exterior cracks. The case for my Konica Auto S2 has a great exterior, but the interior is becoming dust which will end up on camera so I retired that case a while back.

Having owned Minolta SLR's since 1978 and having access to the family camera shop Minolta display models since 1975 I always appreciate seeing images from this gear. Of course, now that prices on a lot of used gear have dropped I've expanded my "herd" to include Konica, Nikon, Olympus, Yashica, and Pentax gear.

You're as good an authority on Minolta cameras as anyone I know, Mike. I think one of their greatest attributes is the consistently high quality of lenses throughout their entire range of rangefinder cameras and SLRs. Perhaps the fact that Minolta were one of the very few manufacturers that manufactured their own glass, and thus had total quality control from the bottom up, may have had something to do with it.
