Wow, you really hung in there with this one.:)

I suppose that is a familiar outcome for this camera...seems like i Read/Hear about this failure(s) all the time.

I have owned 3 or 4 iterations of that "crappy" 35-70.

I either sold them as part of a bulk lens deal with a bunch of other mediocre Zooms, or used them as an enticement when i had an A-Series body for sale.

I STILL have one left. It is the biggest and heaviest of all the 35-70 i have owned. The only reason i keep it around is because it has Macro. It id the only FD lens i have with that feature.

Nice to see this post revisited. I haven't used my T90 in 2-3 years, but periodically test fire it to give it "exercise". I've sold off my higher end lenses for it except for the 50/1.4 and 28/2.0, and added a Vivitar 28/90 zoom as well as a Kiron 80-200 zoom. I also kept my 50/3.5 macro. I have a jerry-rigged 400/6.3 as well as several Tamron SP Adaptall lenses I can use on it if need be. I also can use my Nikon lenses on it via an adapter I purchased several years ago, but I did sell the adapter I had to use Leica R lenses on it, as sharp focus only came about at f/5.6-8 due to depth of field and register differences.. Why keep it...well, it is a fine performer and a piece of history...I'm hoping to entice one of my grandkids to give it a try later this year.

The T90 is a great camera but suffers from one fatal flaw......the shutter magnets. They tend to go bad if you don't exercise the camera often. Generally I take mine out once a month and exercise the shutter roughly 50 actuations. There are no known DIY remedies for this problem.......you basically have to have the magnets replaced by a professional unless you want to mess around and disassemble the camera yourself and risk damaging something. Steve Sveringen at Camera Clinic is the best out there for T90 repairs. This is my "to go" favorite camera..... it is a joy to use.
