mike_halliwell
Some of you may have noticed my current (repeated...;)) wish to activate Video Capture without touching the camera and Nikon's lack of any sort of remote, either wired or wireless to do so. Well, seems they don't need to, 'cos they already have.. after a fashion. Custom Menu g4 allows the 'normal' (stills) shutter button to be reconfigured. One of the options is to Record Movies, but that still involves poking the camera. However, it doesn't just reconfigure the physical button on the top plate, it also applies to the conventional connections within the 10-pin socket, so wired and wireless remotes will start capture with one press and stop with another. This may be well known to many of you, but it was new for me and thought others would like to know.
Andrew Garrard
Oh. I should have thought of that. But then I shoot video so rarely... Thanks for reporting!
mike_halliwell
:) I think it was the re-configuring of the 10-pin socket connection (!!) that I'd not considered... As it turns out it's actually First Press initiates LV, Second Press starts recording.... etc. Works well for bird table video!
