Need a Reasonably Priced Darkroom Timer for an Amateur B&W Guy

Recommended Posts

Reasonable is relative. My target was to find a new timer for less than $200. The vintage but new-in-box Gralab 300 was less than half of that. It works. I'm happy. Nothing wrong with nostalgia. I like old things. My steel barn for instance holds a fifty-two year old MGB roadster, a forty-nine year old Fiat 124 spider and a forty-six year old Alfa Romeo GTV all in pristine condition. I've never personally flown an airplane that was made after 1978. My beautiful wife is sixty-one and she's priceless. :)

For me, reasonable priced for darkroom equipment is pretty low these days.

I got back into darkroom work about 10 years ago when someone was giving away an enlarger.

I still have my trays from when I was nine years old, and the Nikor tank I inherited from

my grandfather when I was 10, along with some other things from years ago.

I have Nalgene bottles that I bought from the chemistry store room in college,

about 40 years ago now.

Since the enlarger, I have found others with unwanted darkroom supplies,

free or for a very low price.

If I had to pay full price, I wouldn't have done it.

Well, another part was getting some Panalure to print some of the many

color negatives that I now have.
