Salt Lake City photos 1940s?

Can anyone please identify the location of the following three photos? I have reason to believe they were made in Salt Lake City, Utah, around 1946. They were taken by my late father, who I think was briefly stationed at a U.S. Army base there. I suspect the location is Salt Lake City because the same roll of film has photos of the Mormon Temple. One photo shows a smokestack that appears to say "Suto Center" or something similar. (I'm posting in the Travel Forum because I've had good luck here with members identifying old photos.)

The first photo is the Eagle Gate monument in downtown Salt Lake City. The other two were before my time. The Eagle Gate monument is still there,

The parade might be from the 24th of July celebration they have every year. I believe that drug store was famous for their ice cream products. Nothing from the last two photos is there anymore.

Thank you, B. Nelson! I had almost given up hope that anyone would respond to my questions. The Eagle Gate is distinctive and I felt sure that someone would recognize it, even if it no longer existed. Now I'm sure this roll of film was indeed taken in Salt Lake City. My late father was probably on liberty from a nearby Army base. Most of the roll is pictures of the parade.
