Dieter Schaefer
What was the number of the flat zip up leather case? The one in pictured above? FB-14. I still have two FB-16 cases in storage at my parents house in Germany. Edited August 20, 2018 by Dieter Schaefer
theo_vermeulen
For those keen to get hold of these vintage Nikon compartment cases (and they are definitely worth having just for their aesthetic value alone, even if they are not the most practical bags) they can be found regularly on Japanese auction sites like Yahoo Auctions for more reasonable prices than *bay. If you add the Google Translate extension to your browser it will automatically translate the pages for you. I bought my last two Nikon FB-14 bags direct from Japan and they were both in excellent condition despite their age. Prices have dropped somewhat in the last few years even on *bay so they are worth looking for as a nice compliment to your vintage cameras.
chauncey_walden
No, one flat like a suitcase, hard sided brown leather, polygonal in shape with a top that zips around 3 sides and hinges open. Foam lined and fitted for the camera and 3 lenses. Came with my F in 1967.

Sandy Vongries
Your nice post and write-up has made me want one of these :) In your collecting mode, you absolutely have to have a few of these - they are magnificent cases! My suggestion - FB 5, FB 8 and FB 11 (not priority order) . Watch and wait.
theo_vermeulen
For those in the US, I just saw a Nikon FB-14 for sale on *bay for $40. A real bargain.
