Such a generous offer, but... I said yesterday (or is that too long a time span?): "ordered PSE from Best Buy". So, regretfully I have to decline.

Problem solved, we can now expect/await some peace and quiet. ;)

Yesterday? Or is that too short, try again:

Yes, I know! CS2 is "ancient" but till yesterday it did everything I needed it to do. Then some tools disappeared magically. Uninstall and reinstall, right? Wrong! For years Adobe made CS2 available for free with a serial number needed to install and it worked just fine till yesterday, when the serial number was no longer recognized. Couldn't find anything online about this. So, took a deep breath and ordered PSE from Best Buy. I'm not going to pay $20 and after one year $30 each month for PS CC.

Back on the learning curve to learn how PSE is different from PS. Ouch!

PSE is nice, but everything that You are used to in CS2 is not yet there. PSE 14 does not support clone stamping in 16-bit color mode or multiple layers in 16-bit color mode. GIMP got updated to 2.10 version that has both features.

There are glaring bugs (or is that 'features') in the GIMP HSL module that still haven't been fixed.

Changing the red channel lightness also affects neutral greys - who on earth would ever want that? And the lightness slider has limited effect, so pure white or black can never be obtained on any channel.

I reported this on bugzilla years ago with no reply, and to no effect. Surely I'm not the only person to have noticed or been aggravated by these pointless quirks?

Affinity Photo is very impressive for the price and can handle legacy Photoshop layers including blend modes. It’s my PS exit strategy should I ever decide to leave the CC universe.
