Andy Murphy
The advantage is to have smaller file size but higher image quality than JPGs. And it supports 16-bit depth color images. Can we assume DSLRs, mirrorless, and other cameras will follow suit and implement this video format file convention or is it already in place? Wouter Willemse
Not in place yet, and I think it'll take some time - photo editors will need to have support for the file formats, as well as the leading desktop operating systems (and possibly browsers), and probably only then the camera manufacterers may add it as an optional new format, to new released cameras. So it's reasonably safe to assume it will come sooner or later, but I wouldn't bet on "sooner".
paul ron
im sure it will take time to take over since there will have to be alot of software updates n patches. but hypothetically...... suppose these new formats become default, jpegs wont be supported anymore. os updates and editors will drop jpegs.... will you convert everything you have stored to the new format? what will it cost and how long would it take for you to convert formats? The more you say, the less people listen.
