Subscription renewal

ADMIN....My Premium Subscription expires in 6 days and I have decided to go for another year.In my Account settings,I have opted out of auto-renewal which would not have worked anyway as my credit card has been replaced with a new card/ different number.Now,when I click on the RENEWAL bar on My Account Page,I am taken to a place to Upgrade to Premium status with a new start date rather than a place where my Premium membership continues for a year from the date of expiry.What's up?

The site seems to have a problem taking money off people unless you can do the auto renew. I had disabled auto renew because I wanted more control, but I couldn't get the renewal procedure to work. In the end I activated the auto renew and it went through, I did report that next year my card would have expired. It appears this problem has been ignored.

Well,the card I was using has been replaced and there is no way to auto-renew and as I noted,the message when clicking on the renewal bar is basically as if I wanted to go to Premium with a new start date voiding the last few days remaining on my present paid membership;I did not proceed further so I cannot say if the function works.Guess I will let my membership expire and see what happens after that.Would be nice though if ADMIN reacted to this.

Magazines, websites, and other subscription based services generally have what is referred to a 'grace period' whereby the subscription remains in force for some period (typically 30 days or more) before your membership privileges are rescinded. Believe me, PN is not about to give you the boot anytime in the foreseeable future given the deterioration in their membership base. This all has to do with the 'rate base' that they guarantee to advertisers, rate base being the number of paid subscribers that they have on their rolls at any given point in time. It is not quite this simple, but you get the idea.

Jim..you are right!I did let my membership expire and signed up again for another year via the opening page which offers ''Sign In/Sign Up''option.I wish Admin would concentrate efforts in getting the basics to work instead of adding useless features,World Map for example.

Hey I'm back, just finished moving. You're a "legacy" subscriber? Meaning you paid with paypal last year and now you've had to renew using our new "stripe" payment system? However you had to wait till the old subscription expired first before you were presented with a "upgrade to premium" dialog. Is that the issue?

 

New work has been done to ensure that people can "cancel" in their settings page an active subscription, meaning it won't automatically charge and renew. (Glenn has to do that manually for now)

The issue was that I wanted to renew my paid suscription and when I clicked on the renewal bar like I have been doing for the last 7 yrs,the option came up to upgrade to Premium with a new start date which was not what I wanted;on Aug 1,your answer was that the renewal button was going to appear shortly which it still has not.What is a ''Legacy'' suscriber?No,I have not been paying via paypal but by credit card ;in the past,the option of gift subscription was available and very convenient....Is there such a feature coming?
