eric_m4
Hello all, Even though these are common garden insects, I'm not an insect expert and would like to know if someone could please identify these two bugs for me, thanks very mu ch!
Matthew Currie
I think the first one is a green sweat bee, and the second some sort of katydid.
stuart_pratt
I think the first one is a green sweat bee, and the second some sort of katydid. I used to go and see a band called Katydids, and it always struck me as an odd name, and perhaps a made-up one. Thanks for enlightening me! eric_m4
Thank you very much, Matthew! Stuart, now that I think about it, there was an album by Steely Dan in the 1970's - "Katy Lied", with the same (or similar) insect on the cover. Matthew Currie
There was also a Children's book (or several of them) from long ago called "What Katy Did," which I recall my mom liked as a kid, in which the pun of the name is made explicit by the picture of insects on the cover.
