al-pics
New user, cat get my bio to format at all. Am I being silly? I searched and found this old thread... Search Results for Query: Biography text format | Photo.net Photography Forums[node]=1562 Tried as suggested, using notepad without any returns or line feeds but it didn't work... (Other than the table stuff, it was what I expected to be honest.) Do not want anything fancy, just the odd newline so the text is easily readable What am I missing, this shouldn't be hard <br/> and even /n should work ? Dustin McAmera
The whole site was rejigged last year, so any information older than that is likely to be out of date.
al-pics
Mmmm did wonder, noticed HTML tag showing up in some older comments, suggesting that at some point they were working and now they don't... Not the end of the world I guess but a little irritating, given the the basic premise of the site is all about presentation! Do I take it then that there is no way to do it? seems like an odd decision from a design perspective... To be hair it was probably a security measure... Clever code in HTML posts can potentially exploit security holes in servers, causing issues and even extracting information by creating terminal sessions... Sad world Is there anything else not working well? Site seems less busy now that it has been in the past. I am looking for a lively discussion on my attempts so a busy site is sort of a prerequisite. I don't particularly want to go premium with a site that is fading away... Its not a cost thing, I just don't have time to document everything in two or three places. Thanks for getting back to me. Regards, Al
Dustin McAmera
I think some of the users drifted away during the change to the new software. I have never paid here, and I only use the discussion forum. So of course sharing my immense knowledge is contribution enough! I tried to add a couple of lines of biography; it has appeared now; an hour or more since I entered it; at first there was no change, but since the Public Profile page said 'Saved' I guessed it would happen sometime. As you say, I have none of the line-breaks I put in. I'll have another go. I put <p> in; that doesn't work either. Cheers! Dustin McAmera
Noticed you can drag the bottom right corner of the text-input box around. I tried pulling it left, and my text in the box got line-breaks when the box got narrow enough. However, they don't appear in the saved version shown in the Profile. I think I give up! al-pics
Thanks D, I have been fiddling as well and didn't get anywhere, it just dosn't seem to want to anything but text and spaces. Its a a very odd thing for someone to have designed... OK for twitter perhaps, not that I use that... Ah well, enough is enough I guess, better things to occupy myself with and I expect the same go's for you. Thanks for the support.
