Matt Laur
Important: please keep your image under 1000 pixels on the longest side for in-line viewing, and please keep the FILE SIZE UNDER 300kb. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc). Are you new to this thread? The general guidelines for these Wednesday threads are right here:http://www.photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00W7km. This forum's moderators are allowing up to three Nikon Wednesday images per week, so share some work! I guess I mis-calculated last week! I suppose there may have been SOME groovy fireworks photographs already taken this Independence week, but the real action won't be until tonight. Luckily, we have made our way to our secret undisclosed location, and fired up some sparklers to hold us over. Undisclosed location, because there's a $500 fine for using a sparkler in our county, because ... well, I can't explain it, because it's completely irrational. But there it is. So, any photos I post of things emitting sparks were surely made at a remote, hidden site out of state. Any stealthy photography made in questionable locations amongst the Nikon people this week? Share! D810 at ISO 200 and 1/800th with a Sigma 35/1.4 at f/2.2

Matthew Currie
I know I should be out finding fireworks or shooting the annual samba parade in Castleton but we just got back from Svalbard, and my head and hard drive are full of the strange polar world instead. Barely scratching the surface of the millions of pictures. We can start with an interesting effect from the ship sailing through the mist. This shot, by the way, with the new Nikon 10-20DX lens under discussion elsewhere, on a D7100.

Andrew Garrard
Any stealthy photography made in questionable locations I wasn't going to bore you all with more photos of fast food eating squirrels, but this topic is me. The squirrels are in a car park belonging to my local mill pond, which is full of birds and where I can take photos with impunity. However, the car park itself is also next to a McDonald's (obviously) and two childrens' play areas. I tried standing outside my car with a 200 f/2 pointing at a bin, and got called a "ponce" by someone who apparently thought I was shooting his car (and who apparently thinks "ponce" doesn't mean what I think it means). Then I tried lying down inside a car with the sun visors down to avoid spooking the squirrels with a 200-500, and got accused of photographing kids when they went past (which is actually exactly when I put the camera down, because they were scaring the squirrels); fortunately I eventually persuaded my accuser that all my shots were of squirrels. But apparently I can't win. Fortunately I've decided that several hundred semi-identical squirrel photos is enough for now, and I can move on to creeping people out with street photography. Andrew Garrard
So to a different suspicious activity. Here's an infrared shot through the gates of Windsor Castle. I took roughly this shot once on HIE, long ago, and was worried I'd have to explain the film and the R72 filter to someone; this is the digital version. The most difficult part was avoiding getting people (and especially children) in the frame - though the "see through clothing" reports are highly exaggerated based on the blurry tourists who kept running through all the shots I deleted. I just need to move where there are no people, I think - they only cause trouble. 690nm-converted D90, 1/640s, ISO 200, 28-80mm f/3.3-5.6G @28mm (42mm equivalent), f/7.1.
