Ranssu1
From Yliskylä and Tullisaari, Helsinki. Ricoh XR 7, XR Rikenon 1:2 50mm, Fomapan 200, Rodinal 1+50. Results with this combination a bit too grainy for my taste. I think Fomapan 100 works better with Rodinal.

m42dave
The Almaz 103, Soviet pro SLR similar in appearance to some Minolta and Nikon models, but meterless, with Pentax K mount. The camera has provision for interchangeable focusing screens, viewfinders, bulk film back, data back, and motor drive, though no motor drive was ever made. About 9,500 units were built between 1979-1986. Several metered versions (Almaz 101, 102, & 104) were made as prototypes. JDMvW
In a long story not repeated here, I decided to get a Praktica, so bought a Praktica L. Talk about your slippery slope! Here is the first of my notorious water tower images shot with my first "camera bought to collect" .
rick_drawbridge
Ah, great to see that water tower again, JDM! Here are a few from a Nikon FE fitted with a Zoom-Nikkor 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5. The film was Arista EDU Ultra 100 developed in PMK Pyro. Weather permitting, I may have something further to post in the weekend. Tony Evans
My recently widowed next door neighbour, moving on to smaller quarters, gave me on leaving, a plastic bag of goodies. One contained item will be the subject of a future Post but I couldn't wait to try out the other, a virtually new Minolta XG1 (n) with Minolta MD 50/2.0, an Optron 80-200 mm Macro Zoom and an Ozunon 28-70 Macro Zoom, both in Minolta mount, together with the Manual. I have not ever owned any Minolta Gear and have always shied away from Zooms in favour of Prime focal lengths. The XG1 (n) was an improvement on the XG1 with a front finger grip and a rear Memo Holder. It operates in Auto and Manual Modes from 1/1000- 1 sec. In Auto Mode, speeds are shown in the Viewfinder but not in Manual. The Optron is a Korean lens, about which I can find nothing. The Ozunon is a Japanese lens manufactured by the Ozone Optical Company, the founder of which was a Mr. Ozone. Search suggests that this company made lenses for Vivitar, Soligar and Hanimax. Here they all are. MINOLTA ENSEMBLE. I loaded up with Acros, exposed at ISO 50, and set out for a first test of camera and lenses. Development in Rodinal (1+50) and wet-scanned on the BSH/V700. Overall I was extremely pleased with the camera and the "less than classic" zooms. My major discovery was how much light loss there is in these cheaper lenses. The Ozunon loses 1 stop between 28 and 50mm and 1.5 stops between 50 and 70mm. I seldom use in-camera metering, in favour of Spot and/or Incident hand-held meters, but here is the case where in-camera metering saves a lot of mental adjustments. LADY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION. (OZUNON) AROUND THE BACK. (MINOLTA) PARK BBQ SHELTER. (OPTRON) PARK SEATS. (MINOLTA) St. STEVENS, FRONT. (OZUNON) ST. STEVENS, SIDE. Mike Gammill
Nice work. The 28-70 appears to have a variable maximum aperture anyway so the effect is normal.
rick_drawbridge
Great work with the new kit, Tony. I used to be fairly wary of zoom lenses but I find the convenience of zooms too much to resist. Ozone Optical created some very good lenses; I have a Soligor 135/2.8 attributable to that company and it beautifully made and a very good performer. Please show us more from these acquisitions.
