Film Camera Week for June 15

I've heard that many don't like look of HP5+ in Rodinal. However, I do have a roll of Foma 200 and Arista EDU 100 (which I think is Foma 100) that I might try. Still have a few Rolleipan 25 reloads around so I may try another roll of it with stand developing like I did last summer.

Fomapan 100 with Rodinal works well, but I Rodinal gives 1/3rd of a stop drop in film sensitivity. I used to expose Fomapan 100 at EI80 to compensate for it.

Thanks, Rick. I had heard that as well. I'm guessing that the 200 might be exposed at E.I. 160. Obviously I will bracket exposures.

I've got a huge backlog of classic film cameras ranging from RF Arguses (Argi) to some very special classics. If my current mending works out, expect a spate of reports in some future state.

A great collection of images, so far! I managed to take a walk between storms with one of my favourite cameras, the good ol' Nikon FE, loaded with Arista 100 EDU Ultra and fitted with the ubiquitous Zoom-Nikkor 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5. This lens doesn't get much praise from the Nikonistas, but it seems to serve me well. The film was developed in PMK Pyro and scanned on an Epson V700 using Silverfasr SE software.

Yes, very nice images. Great job with that Nikon 35-70. Quite a few good lenses of that range, but they don't always get the recognition or praise that they deserve. I have the original Maxxum 35-70 f 4, Olympus AF 35-70 f 3.5-4.5, Minolta MD 35-70 f 4, and Tamron Adaptall 35-70 f 3.5.

Thanks, Mike. Yes, I have that selection of lenses, though my Olympus is the earlier manual focus version, and I agree that they're all just fine. I think my pick of the lenses in this range would be the truly excellent Minolta MD 35-70mm f/3.5, the Minolta design adopted by Leica as the Leica Vario-Elmar-R 35-70 mm f / 3.5.

@rick- that little MD 35-70 is one of my favorites as well. Minolta later made a version with close focusing, but I never tried the one we had in stock at the camera shop My dad sold it with an X-700, motor drive, and 280 PX flash as a display model later. The much later (I suspect made by Cosina) 35-70 f 3.5-4.8 came as a kit lens with the X series cameras (we stocked the kit with X-370), but I don't think it performed as well as the earlier fixed f 3.5 versions. It's sibling, the 28-70 wasn't bad, although wide open it wasn't so great. I gave mine to my oldest son to use in his Minolta SRT 201.

First up from the Hasselblad 500CM using expired Ektachrome 200 processed by FotoExpress in San Jose, CA and scanned by myself on the Epson V800 using the Epson software

Note I am just getting the hang of the color scanning so some of the colors will be off and I am aware.

This one from the Voigtlander Perkeo II using Ektar 100 again processed by FotoExpress and scanned again by me. I am surprised how good this Perkeo II is working.

I must say I like the way most of these came out, I watched a video on Youtude by Alan Brock explaining how he scans Ektar and it was very helpful.

Anyway, here are a few and again I am sure some of the colors are off but I will get better.

Still have a few dozen feet of Panatomic-X in the loader to get through this summer., Will likely use it with primes or at least my faster zooms.

A little off on exposure (inadvertently switch to manual) but corrected somewhat in post processing

Very impressed with the colors and the way they turned out.

 

A question to you or any of the others who use Leica Barnacks, I got a couple of the FILCA ? film cassettes and they don't seem to work with my loaders, is there a special film loader that they work with? I use the Watson loaders.

The Watson 100 should take Leica reloadable cassettes, but you have to take out the little spacer.

But possibly the loader is possibly only designed for the younger IXMOO cassettes, which are slightly less tall than the FILCA cassettes, if I recall correctly.

 

I've not actually tried this with my Watson and Leica cassettes yet, I use cheap Kaiser reloadable cartridges.

Yes the older FILCAs are taller than the IXMOOs and require you to remove the 'shim' from the Watson 100 loader.

The knob on the right side turns to open/close the cassette when it is inside the loader

I did figure it out and the Watson does work, I was trying to open the cassette instead of closing it as it won't open until the spring clip is pulled away from the body of the cassette.

I don't see anything to complain about. Those are gorgeous!
