Mike Gammill
Great series, Marc. The developer article and the film/developer combination article really make me appreciate how good we have now with current films and developers. Thanks.
Don Harpold
Interesting that it reads Rodinal should not be used with high speed films, back in that day what was considered "high" speed
Moving On
Thanks for the great stuff. I wonder why I never see much about those old Nikon rangefinders being used on this site.
JDMvW
Not only entertaining, but also useful. I confess I always just stuck with D76 for developing. Sort of 8 to 11 minutes at whatever termperature it happened to be at  never see much about those old Nikon rangefinders Just for you--Another report on the Nikon S2 rangefinder
Moving On
Thanks, I really appreciate it. I’ve been chewing on that Leica/ Nikon S2 bone a long time. Just can’t bring myself to drop the coin yet.
Julio Fernandez
Thanks for posting these! Nice article on developers - several of these are still around, as also newer versions of some films. This is an ur-Massive Development Chart, quite useful for understanding references in old articles. The trade fairs were trending on automation, the Retina Reflex was out, as well as several "3" in the ads: Retina IIIC, Konica III, Leica IIIg and Nikon S3. This could have been one of the last RF-dominated years.
rick_drawbridge
Thanks Marc, all as interesting as usual. The developer/film development tables brought back a few memories, and a touch of nostalgia.
Gary Naka
I hated mixing D76 and Microdol (and Kodak fixer), the powder sometimes blew around when we poured it in. plew So we had to mix it in the classroom or better yet, outside. And we sometimes had trouble getting the powder to disolve into solution, so we used warmer water than what was on the instructions. HC-110 was neater and easier to mix. Wouter Willemse
HC-110 was neater and easier to mix. It still is ;)
Mike Gammill
The long shelf life of HC110 concentrate makes sense for occasional users. Back in the day when I processed film every day or two I could always use up D-76 (or Microdol-X or DK-50) long before it went bad. If one lives in an area where it is difficult to get D-76 it is possible to mix it from raw ingredients.
