Andrew Garrard
Clearly no harm was meant by the poster of this thread, and part of the issue here is that the degree of offensiveness of the term seems to be regionalised. Given that we're a multi-cultural community, I don't think it's harmful to point out potential sensitivities around a term like this, since we're here to educate and be educated - and hopefully we'd already answered the original question. So long as we do so calmly and rationally, at least. On this occasion, using the term as an insult was deemed sufficiently offensive in the UK that the word has largely fallen out of use. It's not really in the same class as many of the words that trigger PC complaints (and the ones it compares to, I'm not going to try to post). William Michael
MODERATOR NOTE: Seems like the PC police will jump on ANYTING these days. . . etc I didn't read Dustin McAmera's post as acting as "PC Police". I read it as a question. Nothing more and nothing less. Possibly his question could have been motivated by his experiences. I don't know. And I am not about to guess at that either. What is fact, is: the question of the use of the word 'spazz' has been addressed. The main topic of the thread is the Nikon issue and it is not who or what is or are the "PC Police" - that's way off the main topic: and that's enough of it.
