JRCrowe
Basic Guidelines: In the strictest sense, nature photography should not include "hand of man elements". Please refrain from images with buildings or human made structures like roads, fences, walls. Pets are not permitted. Captive subjects in zoos, arboretums, or aquariums are permitted, but must be declared, and must focus on the subject, not the captivity. Images with obvious human made elements will likely be deleted from the thread, with an explanation to the photographer. Guidelines are based on PSA rules governing Nature photography which also cover the Nature Forum. Keep your image at/under 1000 pixels on the long axis for in-line viewing. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site at Flicker, Photobucket, your own site, etc. Each member post one image to this weekly forum Summit Meadow Yosemite National Park
Bill J Boyd
Baby Great Horned Owlets at Lady Bird Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas. I have been watching this pair since they were born in mid-March of this year. This is the 10th consecutive year that Athena (momma owl) has nested in same location.

Deborah Vallette
I am getting the hang of BBF but still need to get the background right. But I was excited to catch this regardless!

Typically you don't have much of a choice for background, although you may be able to position yourself in a more-open area. Also if you have the option to use a larger aperture, it may help blur the background.
