This one's a bit weird. Apparently it's the 683rd image I took after getting my D700. I've been using this for a while to demonstrate the effect of a wide angle so long as you press your nose to the screen (I also have a 30" print of it), but I've not gone back and processed it with my modern workflow, which has a serious effect on the D700's strong AA filter and what happens to the 14-24 in the corners without processing - not that you can see it much at 1000 pixels. The version with my old workflow is here, if anyone cares. This was from my first rushed trip around lots of US National Parks, although on this occasion someone got paid to drive us around them even faster than on my crazy tour - and consequently mostly got us to places at worse times of day (especially Antelope). This was a few days after I got the 14-24, too.

And of course, if we're going back in time, I come across lots of photos of my babies. Soda, in the foreground, is the one we lost last year; her sister Pepsi in the background (get the naming scheme?) we lost back in February 2014. I still find myself doing things I was trained to do by having the cats - not leaving the bathroom door where they can shut it behind themselves, opening both windows in a room so they don't get stuck on the window sill, sleeping with my upper leg crossed so they don't stand on my crotch while I'm asleep...

This shot (on the sofa I'm currently using for uploading these) was a record of an unusual event, because they hated each other nearly as much as they liked comfy seats - if they were fully awake, they'd have taken a swipe at each other from this position, but one of them must have been cold. Incidentally, ever try to bring out the detail in a black cat while not blowing the white patches on her sister? This is why I jumped at the dynamic range of the D800 when it became available...
