Basic Guidelines: In the strictest sense, nature photography should not include "hand of man elements". Please refrain from images with buildings or human made structures like roads, fences, walls. Pets are not permitted. Captive subjects in zoos, arboretums, or aquariums are permitted, but must be declared, and must focus on the subject, not the captivity. Images with obvious human made elements will likely be deleted from the thread, with an explanation to the photographer. Guidelines are based on PSA rules governing Nature photography which also cover the Nature Forum. Keep your image at/under 1000 pixels on the long axis for in-line viewing. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site at Flicker, Photobucket, your own site, etc.

it's almost 1:00pm EST and I thought to post an image but did not see a thread for it. This is a little odd but, well, I may just as well start it. :)

I am posting this less iconic African animal for its painterly quality. The steenbok is a petite antelope with few distinctive markings: the large eyes are ringed by a fine circle of white hairs, and there is a slender black triangle which starts at the nose and tapers upwards. The ears are extremely large. The horns, found only in males, are straight, sharp, and very upright. Steenbok.thumb.jpg.58d2723f404e0757c5d15153079fb0b3.jpg

An obstructed view of a red-winged blackbird. They frequently stand on reeds and sometimes it is difficult to get a clear view. I moved around a bit so that at least the eye was not obstructed, and focusing was difficult also.

Nikon D500 with 200-500mm/f5.6 lens @ 500mm.

Unusual. Well captured. Typically see them photographed on top of a reed or cat o' nine tail.

and the klipspringer (Oreotragus oreotragus)

is a short-legged antelope of sorts, though not closely related to the Steenbok, I think

The klipspringer resembles a steenbok in some way, especially the head.
